This a bow shot of the SS Socotra, a 495 foot Bristish owned tramp steamer,
the ship that returned 1CSWG troops to Vancouver after the war and their deployment to Darwin
Australia in 1945. They boarded the Socotra on February 6 1946, 2 months after having
arrived in sydney from Darwin. 1CSWG spent 20 days at sea on their return to Vancouver,
bouncing across 7000 miles of the Pacific at a sizzling speed of 16 knots. They arrived in
Vancouver on 26 February 1946.
