Alert From the Air Today

This photo was taken late March early April of 2007 by an unknown individual. I have asked for his name in order to give him credit, but so far it has not been forthcoming. Also, I am assuming the date of the photo. Note, the sun is from almost due south and the length of the shadows, hence my assumption.

Excellent view of the buildings of CFS Alert. On the right a part of Dumbell Bay is visible and to the top looking northerly over the Arctic Ocean - next stop Moskva!

Another view looking east. Shows the Station and road leading down to the quarry, the old dump and the airstrip. In foreground is the pad at the end of the strip as well as the buildings associated with the airstrip.

Alert from 34,000 feet. Photo courtesy Derek Bywater, circa Jan-Jun 2003.

Looking southwest one gets a good view of not only the Station but also the rugged terrain that makes up most of Ellesmere Island. The mountains are the United States Range. (Imagine that, in CANADA!!!)
