MATS C54 Crash

I took these 2 photos in 1964. In 1952 a US Military Air Transport Service C54 crashed on the runway at Alert while bringing in cargo for the Weather Station. The people on board escaped. The remains of the aircraft were pushed off to the east side of the strip. Thats Pat O'Neil checking out the starboard landing gear and Tom Ross under the engine cowling.
