Ice Caves

This cave has been there ever since my 1st tour to Alert and long before that. It keeps changing shape from year to year, since it is made of ice. The cave is in steep ravine where snow orginally drifted over the ravine from one side to the other. In the spring when the snow started to melt, it melted out underneath and the water eventually carved out a small tunnel running the length of the drifted snow. Over many years it has carved out the tunnel to this large size. There is a lot of water that flows throught there when the snow and ice start melt every year.
