Alert Photo Gallery

The photos on this page were provided by Frank Edison, a Reserve Forces CE Officer who has spent a number of past summers
in Alert running the "Quarry", as in gravel. I think in the 1st pic he or someone was a little close to the polar bear for comfort.
The remainder of the row are some great pics of a wolf family that was in the area.

This row of photos are of the October 1991 crash of a Canadian Air Force CC130 aircraft taking part in the fall/winter
resupply of fuel and supplies from Thule Air Base in Greenland to Alert. I have not seen any pictures of this crash scene to
this date May 2005. These photos were taken by Frank in the summer of 2001. The Herc crashed approximately 15 kms
south of Alert while on final approach. 4 people were killed outright and 14 injured in the mishap. Another, a crew
member later died at the scene of exposure.
